I am a contemporary artist working with acrylic and a variety of mixed media to create abstracted paintings. Painting is my primary connection with and exploration of the outside world. Interior landscapes made visible; a balancing of shape and line, colour and texture, light and atmosphere. I work in the studio on my own. I do not do plein air. I do take photographs, and forget to look at them. I may look at small sketches scribbled on bits of paper. I try to paint intuitively and without preconception. The Prairie landscape of my childhood asserts itself in the iconic shapes and layered surfaces of many of my paintings. My present home in south west England offers new vistas of rolling hills and a sky in perpetual motion.
